THIS PILGRIMAGE IS NOW FULL.
PLEASE CALL 734-821-2121 if you would still like to inquire about any openings.
Join us on a Pilgrimage to St. Meinrad Benedictine Monastery in St. Meinrad, Indiana
with Fr. James Conlon, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Ann Arbor.
Tuesday, September 4
our bus departs from the front of St. Francis Church. We will arrive back home on Wednesday, September 5 by 11:30 p.m.
Pilgrimages are times of prayer, shared experiences, reflections and retreat which focus our attention on “the one thing that is necessary (Luke 10:42).” In the Benedictine motto Ora et labora (pray and work), it is "ora," or "pray," that comes first.
Our pilgrimage to St. Meinrad Archabbey allows for an experience of Benedictine spirituality: the balance of labor & prayer and the charism of hospitality, Let all guests who arrive be received like Christ, for He is going to say, "I came as a guest, and you received Me" (Matt. 25:35).
--Chapter 53, Rule of St. Benedict
Our pilgrimage 1`includes Mass, Stories of St. Benedict & St. Scholastica, Benedictine values and hospitality, and other spiritual and educational opportunities. Our pilgrimage situated immediately following Labor Day provides an opportunity to look at the Benedictine balance of prayer and work. St. Meinrad is nestled in rural southern Indiana surrounded by woods and farmland. St. Meinrad's is a vibrant monastic community of over 100 Benedictine monks.
